Skywest Airlines - Agreement Reached With Wan To Airlift The West Australian Newspaper
    15-02-2010

Skywest is the major airline servicing all major airports and population centres of Western Australia. Skywest’s operational base is in Perth, Australia. Skywest is delighted to advise that Perth’s major daily newspaper The West Australian (ASX: WAN) will commence airfreight distribution using Skywest so as to allow morning, same day as printed, delivery throughout Western Australia. Skywest will provide these airfreight services overnight so as to increase utilization of some of its aircraft.

Skywest has been advised that WAN's CEO, Mr Chris Wharton, will make the following statement during WAN's half year results presentation today:

“I announce today that we have reached an agreement with Skywest, which will facilitate the delivery of our product into the Northwest of WA, well in advance of trading hours. This is significant for us as it will enable our product, which has a limited shelf life, to be on the shelf when the shops open, not, as is currently the case, arriving on the shelves just before closing time. It will also, in due course, enable us to commence home delivery in some major northern population centres.

We expect to see our Saturday edition on a dedicated Skywest freight service by the end of March.

This is a great example of two Western Australian businesses working together to achieve an outcome that will benefit all West Australians, through the early distribution of news and the establishment of a new freight service to the Northwest.”

Skywest advises that the initial term of the arrangement is 1 year, however, Skywest will seek in due course to extend the period of the agreement.
