Intandem Films plc - Bette Midler and Pixie Lott sign up to star in Sweet Baby Jesus
    24-05-2010

Intandem Films Plc, the London based international film group, is pleased to announcethat Award winning actress & singer, Bette Midler and Platinum record singer Pixie Lott are now attached to the movie ‘Sweet Baby Jesus’, of which Intandem has the International sales rights.

‘Sweet Baby Jesus’, based in the Seventies, follows hippies Mary (played by Pixie Lott) and Joe as they make their way to the town of Bethlehem, Maryland, USA, to visit Mary's mum Darlene for Christmas. Darlene is shocked by Mary's pregnancy and speechless when her daughter confesses that Joe is not the father of her baby!

Worse is to come as Mary admits that she has no idea who really is the father. Darlene finds her and Joe a place to stay at Eleanor's (Bette Midler) Bed & Breakfast as the local inn is packed for the holidays.

While preparing the Christmas Eve feast that night, Eleanor burns herself whilst cooking. In her pain she screams out "Jesus, Mary and Joseph!" and suddenly she realises that a true-life Nativity is happening in her small town of Bethlehem!

The Director, Peter Hewitt, is the man behind Box office hits, ‘Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey’, ‘The Borrowers’ and ‘Garfield - whose box office exceeded $178,000,000.

Andrew Brown, Executive Director of Intandem Films, commented: “Intandem is building a fantastic slate of highly commercial comedies, of which the unique Sweet Baby Jesus will be the first to start production. We’re delighted to be working with such an experienced team and commercial cast and are particularly proud to introduce Pixie Lott in her acting debut!”

Peter Hewitt, Director of Sweet Baby Jesus, commented: "I was so thrilled when I was sent Sweet Baby Jesus. The script has such fun subverting the treasured details of the Nativity - posing the question, ‘What would we do if it all happened again?' without denigrating the story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

“It allows us to experience the wonder of the second coming and witness modern reactions to those events. I am so delighted with the cast so far assembled - from film newcomer, Pixie Lott, to film Goddess, Bette Midler, all connected by a love for this extraordinary project. I love this script and I really cannot wait to bring it to the cinema screen."

Philippe Rebboah, the producer of the film commented “There are a lot more surprises to be announced on the cast, especially for the role of Joe. We are signing other great actors, yet to be announced. The music will also be very important for this film and we’re going to be including original songs of the 70's and modern day artists”.

Filming is scheduled to start during the Summer 2010 in Maryland and Ireland.
